The Council of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad held its eleventh session for the academic year 2023–2024 at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, chaired by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and attended by the assistant deans and heads of scientific departments.
The meeting began with the discussion of several important topics related to enhancing the educational process and improving the performance of the academic and administrative units in the college. The session included the following:
- Approval of a number of academic promotions for faculty members in the college departments.
- Approval of requests to postpone the academic year for several students after reviewing their justifications and required documents.
- Discussion of supervision procedures for postgraduate research, including approving thesis titles, allowing joint supervision, and extending the research period for some students.
- Reviewing the results of the comprehensive examination for postgraduate students.
Regarding undergraduate students, the council discussed requests to reduce tuition fees for eligible applicants, in addition to addressing attendance and absence regulations, courses shared with other colleges, and establishing mechanisms to prepare for the final examinations of the 2023–2024 academic year.
The session concluded with a discussion of various administrative affairs related to the college and its scientific departments, with an emphasis on continued efforts to enhance academic and institutional performance.
